SpaceSaver Meter Base Arrester

This device protects electric circuits and large “non-electronic” appliances. It contains quality TVSS circuitry that provides reliable performance at up to 45,000 amp surges. It withstands multiple surges and has an expected 20 year life. The SpaceSaver compact meter arrester includes a thermal disconnect on each phase, an internal shield for safe installation and an operational indicator that verifi es the device’s surge protection is functional. Typical indirect lightning strikes result in an average of 20,000 amps of surge energy at the service entrance, so the SpaceSaver meter arrester provides more than twice the protection needed for typical high-energy surges. Since direct lightning strikes can exceed 300,000 amps, no surge protection system will guarantee protection against direct lightning strikes. Fortunately, direct strikes are extremely rare exceptions rather than the norm.

This device must be installed by cooperative personnel. To ensure proper grounding, the installation of ground rods may also be required. In addition, this device should NEVER be removed by anyone other than cooperative personnel due to the potential of electrocution from exposure to live electrical wires.
